About the Photographer

Alexis Wolfe Mbassa is a portrait photographer with a passion for storytelling through images. She began her photography career in 2001, specializing in music and entertainment, working with artists and musicians in Seattle, WA. Her first book, Emerald City Hip Hop, was published in 2008, and that same year she moved to NYC to pursue her master’s degree in education.

Alexis spent years as a public school teacher in NYC, blending her love for teaching with her creative work, and continuing to photograph musicians, actors, and organizations.

Her second book, Keep It Beautiful: The World of Shock G as Told to Alexis Wolfe Mbassa, will be published by Crown Publishing | Random House in 2025.

Returning to Seattle in 2023 with two young children and years of experience in education, Alexis naturally expanded her photography business to include family and school portraits. With her background in teaching, she has a unique ability to connect with children, capturing their authentic personalities and the joy they bring to the people who love them most.

FAQs

  • If you ordered prints for pick-up at St. Monica, I will hand package and deliver them to the school around the first week in March.

    If you ordered prints to be shipped to you, they will ship directly from my printer right away.

    Digitals and instantly downloadable.

  • No worries! The prints and digitals will still be available for shipping to you and download. The prices do go slightly up after the deadline as I’m not able to print and package myself. That is all - they will be available until summer!

  • No worries! If you ordered for pick-up I will deliver your prints to St. Monica. I don’t know why it says “studio”. I’ve tried to change that!

  • On my end, I will see the crop you chose and I personally-crop each image before sending out. Sometimes the “preview” doesn’t show your crop correctly - it only shows the image choice.

    Please comment on the photo when you order if you’d like to be sure I crop a specific way! Also - if it does not seem to fit within the print size, I will scale correctly.
